Itanagar, Jan 6: It has been a historic and high-energy morning for the Arunachal Pradesh contingent at the 2nd Khelo India Beach Games (KIBG) being held at the scenic Ghogla Beach, Diu.
The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Beach Soccer team made an emphatic statement in their opening match this morning. Facing off against Maharashtra, the team displayed exceptional coordination and clinical finishing to secure a commanding 9-1 victory. This dominant performance sets a high standard for the tournament and showcases the rising talent within the state's women's sports programs.
The success continued in the combat sports arena as Ms. Nabam Yani delivered a stellar performance in the Pencak Silat competition (55kg to 60kg category).
In a high-stakes quarterfinal match against the host territory, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Ms. Yani showcased superior technique and composure to claim victory. With this win, she officially advances to the semifinals and has assured a medal for Arunachal Pradesh.
The contingent’s early success is guided by the strategic leadership of Chef de Mission Nada Apa, SO HQ. His presence and management at the games have provided the necessary support and morale boost for the athletes to excel on the national stage.
"We are incredibly proud of the start our athletes have made today," said Nada Apa. "A 9-1 win in soccer and an assured medal in Pencak Silat within the first few hours shows the grit and preparation of our team. We are here to compete at the highest level."
