WAKRO, May 3: A memorial service was held to pay tribute to philanthropist and industrialist Mahadeo Jalan who recently passed away in Dibrugarh at the age of 86. The ceremony at Anu Maheshwar shrine in Shriram Tamhan Parisar began with lighting of lamp by Mrigen Jalan, son of Mahadeo in the presence of family and community members.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrigen assured to continue the legacy practiced by his late father. Fondly remembering his association with Wakro and Eastern Arunachal, son Manoj Jalan offered donation from Surajmal Jalan Charitable Trust for welfare activities in Wakro.
Representatives from Wakro Women's Welfare Society, various government officials and others from Arunachal attended the memorial service.
Members of Community and Anu Shiksha Seva Trust while remembering Mahadeo Jalan for his charitable great deeds of donating land for the AMCH, Dibrugarh, many spiritual centres, bridging the gap between the government, workers and tea garden managements and for being a respectable man among politicians of the region who often sought his advice and suggestions thanked Vineeta Jalan, Manoj Jalan and the Jalan family for deciding to immerse the ashes of the legendary philanthropist in the holy Parshuramkund.
