ITANAGAR, May 31: Along with the rest of the country, the World No Tobacco Day was observed in Arunachal Pradesh with a clarion call to citizens to quit all forms of tobacco consumption.
At Rajiv Gandhi University, the day was observed in a blended mode by the varsity fraternity through a 'No Tobacco' pledge. Despite connectivity hurdles due to incessant rain, many faculty members, officers and officials participated in the pledge taking ceremony which was administered by Registrar Dr N.T. Rikam and Joint Registrar Dr David Pertin in English and Hindi respectively. While deliberating on the day's significance, VC Professor Saket Kushwaha appealed all to shun the menace of tobacco. 
Among others, Pro VC Professor Amitava Mitra, Finance Officer Professor Otem Padung, Controller of Examinations Dr Bijay Raji, deans, heads and directors of departments and institutes attended the programme.
World Tobacco Day was observed with theme  ‘Commit to Quit’ at HWC Yupia by the District Tobacco Control Cell, Papum Pare.
At KDS District Hospital, Tawang the World No Tobacco Day celebration was marked by a pledge taking by the doctors and staff to quit all kinds of tobacco products.
World No Tobacco Day was also observed at District Hospital Changlang along With launching of Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine by DC Changlang Dr. Devansh Yadav, in presence of DMO Dr K Mossang, Dr Geetika Vashista WHO-RRT, Dr H Tanjang MS-DHC etc.
The DC administered "No Tobacco Pledge" to all the participants and also spoke about the importance of PC vaccine.
