Itanagar, Dec 3: Arunachal Pradesh Home, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Bamang Felix on Friday underscored the role of elected Panchayat leaders in transforming the rural economy and the society into a progressive one, especially after the devolution of power and functions to the two-tier PR bodies.
He also suggested the rural leadership invest in the creation of innovative assets. Further emphasising the need to conserve forests, water bodies, and wildlife in the face of global warming concerns, the Minister called upon the Panchayat leaders to promote environmental conservation initiatives among the rural masses, while assuring them of all possible support wherever required in this regard.
Felix was speaking at a public function at Borum, near the state capital, where he, along with Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, flagged off an ambulance and a garbage lifting truck for 1-Borum Zilla Parishad segment.
The ambulance was procured by the Panchayat leaders of 1-Borum ZP constituency on a selfhelp basis while the garbage lifting truck was donated by SMS Smelter Pvt Ltd, Lekhi. While responding to a six-point memorandum submitted by the local Zilla Parishad Member, the Minister assured to pursue the authority concerned for the installation of CCTV cameras in vital locations of 1-Borum Zilla Parishad segment and upgrading the Nirjuli Health and Wellness Centre into a Primary Health Centre. MLA Kaso, Papum Pare Zilla Parishad Chairperson Chukhu Bablu and the Borum ZPM also spoke during the event, which was attended by a host of dignitaries from various departments, official sources said here.(PTI)
