Itanagar, Mar 16:  Minister Health & Family Welfare,  Alo Libang launched the Covid-19 vaccination 'Corbevax' for  12-14 years age group today coinciding with the National Vaccination Day at COVID Vaccination Centre, R.K Mission Hospital Itanagar. 
The  Minister appealed the parents whose children are eligible to get them vaccinated for protection against Covid-19 infection.
He appealed them not to be carried away by false rumours regarding vaccination circulating in social media. 
Along with the launching programme in view of the observance of National Vaccination Day, one ANM and two ASHAs of Itanagar were also felicitated as the best block performer of Itanagar block during Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization conducted earlier in the month of February this year. 
The National Vaccination Day is an initiative of MoH&FW, Government of India which is observed every year on March 16 to convey the significance of vaccination as well as its role in public health. It also marks India’s victory against Polio disease. It is also to acknowledge the efforts put in by Frontline Healthcare Workers (FLHWs) in ensuring that all children up to 5 years of age are protected with an additional dose of bOPV. 
The National Vaccination Day was also observed in the Naharlagun, Karsingsa and Chimpu blocks under Itanagar Capital Complex and best ASHAs and ANMs of respective blocks were felicitated. 
The launching program cum observation of National Vaccination Day at Itanagar was also attended by Dr. Emi Rumi, Director, Family Welfare, Dr. Dr.Dukum Raina, CMS TRIHMS, Dr. Dimong Padung, State Nodal Officer Immunization, Dr.Mandip Perme, DMO ICC, Swami Vishweshananda, Secretary, RKM Hospital, Dr.Tahan Mize, DRCHO,ICC along with District Program Management staff (NHM) of ICC and UPHC Itafort.
National Vaccination  Day (NVD) was also observed in East Siang  at Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH), Pasighat today. East Siang Deputy Commissioner,  Tayi Taggu  launched the vaccine in presence of senior health officials.
The NVD was observed in three blocks of East Siang district. Three ANMs & six ASHAs were awarded with commendation certificates for their outstanding performance  in the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme(IPPI). The ASHA awards were received by Nyum Perme, Nirola tayeng, Amping Ratan, Pel Perme , Bomik Ragi & Oti Taku.  ANMs  Elina Mize, Minam Rome & Agam Ering also received commendation certificates as recognization for their outstanding performance based on IPPI.
At Tawang, the National Vaccination day was celebrated at Khandro Drowa Zangmo District Hospital,Tawang. 
Speaking on the occassion, DC Tawang KN Damo appreciated the sincere services delivered by healthcare workers  during the pandemic, and expressed his happiness at Tawang being zero covid as on March 15, however at the same time alerted the people to be cautious and continue to follow covid appropriate behaviour. He appealed the ASHA workers to give awareness on menace of drugs at grassroot level,because ASHAs have access and information about  almost all the family members in their respective villages.
Tirap district observed the National Vaccination Day in three Blocks --
Khonsa Block, Namsang Block and Lazu Block in a befitting manner.
Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman DHS, Taro Mize attended the function at district headquarters Khonsa and awarded Certificate of Appreciation to the best performing ASHAs and ANM of Khonsa Block.
DC appealed all to come forward and get vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccine. He also lauded the Health department for the health services rendered during Covid Pandemic, Covid-19 vaccination and other health programmes.
