NAMSAI, May 22: Arunachal Pradesh is a ‘jewel in the crown of the country’, a place filled with natural beauty, vibrant culture and traditions and people full of patriotic fervour that should be emulated by people across the country, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his address at a public meeting at Namsai. 
East Arunachal with the pilgrimage site of Parshuramkund has the potential to be developed and play host to tourists from the whole country, the plans for which will be developed in next 5 years, he added. 
Speaking on the signing of MoU between RRU and the state government, Shah said that it will help create technocrats and trained manpower with qualifications and know how to aid in taking care of the border affairs of the state. The 22 project inaugurated and 25 projects for which foundation stone was laid, amounting to 786 crores and 33466 families and 800 SHGs benefitting, would bring brightness and economic development in the lives of the people, said the Union Home Minister.
Amit Shah proclaimed that the dual central and state government, in the last 8 years, has brought a huge change in the development of the NE region with its 3 pronged agenda of use of the culture and traditions to promote tourism; bringing peace to the NE region by resolving issues between the states and bringing development in the region by developing road, air and rail connectivity and infrastructure development.
He also praised the efforts made by the state government in implementing people friendly schemes that benefitted the masses. Shah lauded the state government’s efforts of doubling the state budget to 26000 crores, from 12800 crores in recent years, GDP increased from previous years, 3000 villages connected with 4G network, rail connectivity plans for Parshuram Kund, Aalo and Pasighat, lowering of Infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate, commissioning of Subansiri HEP soon etc which would accelerate the pace of development of Arunachal Pradesh.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was accompanied by Union Minister for Law & Justice Kiren Rijiju, MP East Tapir Gao, CM Pema Khandu, DCM Chowna Mein, cabinet ministers, MLAs and a host of dignitaries.
CM Pema Khandu, appreciating the efforts of Amit Shah in pushing the early completion of Hollongi Greenfield Airport at Itanagar, which will be started within the next 4 months, called for renaming it as Donyi Polo Airport,Itanagar in order to commemorate the rich cultural heritage of the state. He also appreciated the central government in its efforts to boost road, air and rail infrastructure in the state.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju highlighted the efforts of the Central government in bringing the region to the centre stage by giving it priority and constantly monitoring the developmental works here. 
MP(East) Tapir Gao lauded the Narendra Modi government for being connected to the pulse of the people’s feelings by giving benefits to the truly needy.
DCM Chowna Mein, calling the state a frontier state with 1800 kms of international border with one third population of the state residing in the area, requested the central government to consider infrastructure development in the area to encourage reverse migration through the ‘Vibrant Village’ scheme.
During the programme, an exchange of MoU between Rashtriya Raksha University(RRU) and state government and digital inauguration of transit campus of RRU, inauguration of 22 projects and foundation stone laying of 25 projects and release of assistance to beneficiaries was also done.
