NAMSAI, Jan 27: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday inaugurated VKV Namsai, the 40th in Arunachal Pradesh in presence of Minister RWD Honchun Ngandam. 
While acknowledging the contributions made by the VKVs in protecting, preserving and promoting the state’s indigenous culture and tradition through the medium of education, Mein said it was his privilege to inaugurate the VKV at Namsai.
Starting a VKV in Namsai and dedicating it to the people is indeed a cherished and deserving work that had been done by local legislator Chau Zignu Namchoom, he added, while reiterating that state government accords top priority to quality education. He mentioned that Arunachal Pradesh Teachers’ Transfer & Posting Policy 2020 has been implemented to ensure need-based distribution of teachers in state. 
Deeply concerned about the growing drug menace in Namsai district, he exhorted VKV Namsai to conduct anti-drug awareness programme to sensitize students and parents. To the delight of everyone present, Mein announced to post one Khamti language teacher in the VKV to keep the traditional values, local dialect and culture alive. While exhorting the students to excel in academic and other spheres, he assured to provide necessary support to VKV institutions in the state.
Minister RWD Honchun Ngandam said Namsai is a growing district and comparatively leading in all spheres which is worth emulating and called upon students to develop self-confidence and equip themselves to take the nation to greater heights by following the philosophy and ideals of Swami Vivekananda. 
MLA Namsai Namchoom called upon all to provide support for the growth of the VKV. 
Joint Secretary VKVAPT Rupesh Mathur informed about various activities undertaken by Vivekananda Kendra in Arunachal Pradesh. Students of VKV Tafragam and Namsai performed band display, lezim display, traditional dance and a patriotic song on the occasion. Earlier, DCM unveiled the inauguration slab amidst Buddhist chants and VKV Alumni presented a statue of Swami Vivekananda to the visiting dignitaries.
Venerable Monk Aggaddhama, Abbot of Pariyatti Sasana Buddha Vihara Namsai, MLA Lekang Jummum Ete Deori, former Commissioner Tape Bagra, DC Bijoy Talukdar, DIG (E) Take Ringu, SP Ankit Singh and officers from the Administrative and Engineering Departments along with public leaders were present on the occasion.
