ITANAGAR, Jul 27: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Wednesday staged a sit-in protest against  the BJP government for misusing the  Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi at Rajiv Bhavan in the state capital Itanagar.
Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi is being questioned by the ED office in connection with the National Herald money laundering case for weeks now. The agency questioned Mrs Gandhi over 6 hours on Tuesday, and she was asked to re-appear for the third round of questioning today.
Speaking to the media, President APCC-Nabam Tuki stated  that the party workers today protested against the summoning of the party chief Sonia Gandhi by ED  in the form of ‘Satyagraha’. He said the ED under the BJP government has been harassing not only a cherished political leader but also a woman for hours in the office.
Tuki said that the money laundering case is ‘false’ and no FIR has been lodged yet. "There is a  legal procedure to question or summon someone but surprisingly in this particular case there is no FIR lodged, there is no complaint and evidence that can prove the allegation," he said adding that the ED has been repeatedly harassing the party leader without any substantiating documents against the allegation.
"This is purely a misuse of the agency by the BJP government, which the party will never tolerate,” Tuki said, adding that the protest will continue until party chief Sonia Gandhi is relieved from the case. He also added that son Rahul Gandhi is also being targeted.
