ITANAGAR, Feb 7: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) announced to resort to protest rally against Citizenship Amendment Bill during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 9 next, said General Secretary APCC Chera Taya.
Addressing media persons at Press Club, APCC General Secretary claimed that PM Modi led government has failed to stand on its promises made during the 2014 election. After coming to power they (BJP) is forcing the controversial Bill despite objection from various Northeastern states and political parties. PM Modi led BJP government is adamant to pass the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill2016, he added.
We are not against the PM’s visit, but we will not tolerate the Bill to be shoved upon us, Taya said. He further questioned MoS Home, Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Pema Khandu for being mute spectators and urged them to join their protest march.
