ITANAGAR, MAR 21:  The Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) has condemned the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC)  Upper Siang, prohibiting  the conduct of healing crusade  programme in public place.
Addressing reporters at the Press Club here on Tuesday, General Secretary  ACF James Techi Tara said that the officer has hurt the sentiments of the Christian community with the order while appealing the state government to withdraw the order at the earliest.
On March 20,  the forum has submitted a representation to the state government appealing to repeal the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Yingkiong, Upper Siang, informed Tara. ‘As per the order, any individual, group, faith or religion is restricted to conduct of prayer , healing crusades, healing through local priest at public premises and ban on advertisement of magical remedies for treatment of diseases and disorders, he added.
“Ban on the conduct of healing programme at public place is an insult to the Christian community. Therefore, we strongly condemn the order. It seems like the DC has misunderstood the difference between black magic and healing programme which is very unfortunate," said Tara.
Regarding the Tawang Church construction issue, the ACF seeks invitation from the Chief Minister to know the update on the same as per the minister’s assurance to intervene in the matter for a solution, informed Tara.
Expressing sentiment over non-allocation of funds for Christian educational institutions during the just concluded budget session 2023-24, Tara urged the state government to follow its slogan ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’ with equal treatment.
"Allocations have been made to the RSS education establishments, whereas, the Christian community has the highest numbers of established institutions providing service to society, but the community is being neglected by the state government," said ACF GS.
