Itanagar, Jan 27: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) graced the 77th Republic Day celebration at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar on 26th January. He unfurled the National Flag, reviewed the parade and took the salute of the marching contingents commanded by Deputy Superintendent of Police Dusu Kaling.
On the momentous occasion, the Governor greeted the people. He urged all to take a pledge together to strengthen our constitutional values, reaffirm our faith in democratic institutions, and work united towards a future that is peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous for all. He also said that the year’s Republic Day is inspiring as it commemorates the 150th anniversary of the immortal national song Vande Mataram and embraces the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This theme reflects our rich civilizational heritage, collective pride, and the bold steps my government is taking towards building a self-reliant, inclusive, and prosperous India, he said.
The Governor said that Arunachal Pradesh, with its vibrant cultural diversity, strategic importance, and unbreakable spirit of harmony, stands proudly alongside the nation, fully committed to upholding the noble ideals enshrined in our Constitution. The people of Arunachal have long embodied resilience, discipline, and a deep sense of patriotism, a spirit we continually nurture and celebrate. He highlighted India’s national progress and Arunachal Pradesh’s progress driven by reform.
The Governor said that the people are our greatest strength. While infrastructure is important, healthy, educated, skilled, and confident citizens ultimately shape a State’s destiny. Therefore, the State Government has prioritized human capital as the foundation of all policy, planning, and investment reforms, he said
The Governor said that infrastructure is vital for development, but meaningful reforms give it purpose. He said that the State Government views infrastructure not just as physical assets but as a strategic tool to enhance connectivity, energy security, service delivery, and national integration, especially in a border and hilly State like Arunachal Pradesh. Powering growth through responsible hydropower development, transforming connectivity in the State, strengthening air, digital, and emergency infrastructure and housing and livability are the second most focus area.
The Governor said that economic progress is meaningful when it creates livelihoods, boosts incomes, and empowers communities. We are committed to transforming Arunachal Pradesh’s economy from subsistence-based to one driven by productivity, value addition, sustainability, and market access, he said while stating it as the third vital focus area.  Empowering farmers and strengthening rural incomes, expanding horticulture, value addition and global markets access, tourism as a driver of green livelihoods, and embedding sustainability in economic growth are the main focus areas in this sector.
Stating that strong institutions are the foundation of empowered societies and robust economies, the Governor said that the State Government has prioritized institutional strengthening, transparent governance, and technology-driven reforms to ensure development is rooted in credibility, efficiency, and public trust. Building robust institutions for inclusive development, governance at the doorstep, technology, AI, and next-generation governance are the priority areas.
The Governor emphasized that reforms succeed not by government action alone, but when citizens become true partners in change. He said that sustainable progress in Arunachal Pradesh depends on active citizen participation, respecting the environment, upholding law and social harmony, and driving community efforts in education and empowerment. While reforms set the foundation, true transformation comes from the innovation of youth, sustainable agricultural practices, cultural preservation, and strong institutions. United in purpose, we will build an eco-conscious, socially resilient, and inclusive Arunachal Pradesh, advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Arunachal, he said.
