ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union of Maharashtra (APSUM) today served a seven-day ultimatum to the state government and the Arunachal Pradesh Industrial Development & Financial Corporation Ltd (APID&FC) to sort out the administrative and infrastructural issues plaguing the Arunachal Bhawan at Vashi in Mumbai.
Addressing a press conference here at the Press Club, APSUM President Tapo Riang informed that time and again they apprised both the state government and the APID&FC regarding the dilapidated condition of Arunachal Bhawan in Mumbai. “This time we have served seven days ultimatum demanding an official copy of the MoU relating to the Bhawan signed between the APID&FC and the City & Industrial Development Cooperation (CIDCO), immediate appointment of DRC and ARC along with adequate supporting staff, official clarification on reasons for not handing over the administrative authority of the Bhawan to the General Administration department and alteration of the MoU for creating additional rooms which could accommodate 100 beds,” Riang said.
Pointing out the importance of the Bhawan which caters to the accommodation needs of visitors from the state for medical treatment, especially cancer, the APSUM President said it is a shame that a students’ union has to pursue the issue repeatedly. He rued that the situation has not changed despite the visits by various Chief Ministers including Pema Khandu. “The Bhawan still is in shambles, violation of the MoU is still going on unabated and no legal actions have been taken by the authorities concerned,” Riang added, referring to the show cause notice issued to GoAP by CIDCO in 2016 for breaching of the MoU. The APSUM President informed that despite a Gazette order issued by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh directing the official handing of administrative affairs to the General Administration department, no implementation has been made.
The APSUM President also divulged that along with the All India Arunachal Students’ Union Federation (AIASUF) they will launch a rigorous democratic movement if their demands are not addressed within the given deadline.
