ITANAGAR, Sep 26: As an alternative dispute redressal mechanism to reduce the pendency of court cases under Legal Services Authorities Act 1987, a one-day E-Lok Adalat was conducted here on Saturday by the legal services institutions of several districts of the state under supervision of Arunachal State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA).
The E-Lok Adalat was the first of its kind in the state conducted through virtual mode due to the prevailing pandemic. Legal services institutions from Papum Pare (Yupia), East Kameng (Seppa), West Kameng (Bomdila) and East Siang (Pasighat) participated wherein a total of 24 out of 102 criminal compoundable cases, bank recovery cases and matrimonial disputes were settled and disposed off with a total settlement amount of Rs. 1,614,000. Aimed at reducing the pendency of accumulating cases, the said initiative was held under the direction of the Executive Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.
After Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Karnataka and New Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh is the 5th state nationally and the first among Northeast states to launch the E-Lok Adalat. APSLSA PR
