MIAO, Jun 24: Acting on a tip-off, the Miao Battalion of the Indian Army apprehended two hardcore cadres of NSCN (IM) from Deban area on June 23 last.
Asserted cadre has been identified as Self Style Sergeant Kalin Joy Chakma, a resident of Bodhisatta village near Deban and SS Sgt Gautam Kumar Chakma alias Nutan Chakma, a resident of Anandpur - II village.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the duo were actively involved in various nefarious activities, like extortion in the region.
Nutan Chakma confessed to his involvement in one firing incident in the village where he fired in the air, along with a group of NSCN (IM) cadres to scare and terrorise the people.
One 9 mm country-made pistol with live ammunition was recovered from SS Sgt Kalin Joy Chakma. Both the cadres were handed over to Miao police station.
