ITANAGAR, Oct 10: Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society celebrated its 42nd Foundation Day at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar which saw the attendance of all district units and affiliate bodies. Celebration was started with the flag hoisting by President APWWS (CEC) Gumri Ringu.
During the event, former Presidents, Secretary General APWWS (CEC), pioneer groups, senior members of APWWS and President and General Secretary of District Branches and affiliated Bodies were felicitated.
Ringu read out the preamble and objective and achievement of APWWS.
Secretary General APWWS, Kani Nada Maling in her speech said that today’s Foundation Day Celebration was a historic day where our pioneers, former president and Secretary General, Senior members who sacrificed their life for the women’s movement were felicitated.
Thirty-Four APWWS units and affiliated bodies attended the 42nd Foundation Day Celebration. Pritam Taffo, an advocate spoke about “Gender Parity” in context of law provided under the various provisions of law.
Senior members Tadar Yadir, D.C Mihu Malo and Bengia Dipti Tadar and Sonamati Welly Thongchi shared their stories of the long struggle for women’s rights.
They asked the members to keep on working for the upliftment of society and welfare of women of Arunachal Pradesh . "Say it loud, say it proud, I am a social worker”, they said.
Chief Coordinator APWWS (CEC) Tojum Potom also spoke on the occasion. The Itanagar and Naharlagun units of the Society presented cultural programme.
