PASIGHAT, Oct 15: Apex Professional University, Pasighat observed World Students’ Day on Thursday to commemorate the 89th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former President Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam.
Pro Chancellor of APU Professor Tamo Mibang while highlighting the enormous contributions of Dr. Kalam in nation building said that he has been a role model for the youths of the nation. “His efforts in the fields of science and technology and role as a teacher throughout his scientific and political careers are written in golden words and he will also be remembered for his love for the children,” Professor Mibang said. Vice Chancellor Professor (Maj.) Ashok Kumar briefed on various inspirational quotes of Dr Kalam and urged the students to follow them for a successful career. He also highlighted the achievements of the university in the current academic year. Although the university organizes its annual convocation on this day, this year due to COVID pandemic it will be organized in January 2021. Dr Kalam’s journey from a newspaper boy to the 11th President of India (2002-2007) has been full of challenges and achievements. He was decorated with Bharat Ratna, Padam Vibhushan and Padam Bhushan and left for his heavenly abode while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong on July 27, 2015.
