LUMLA, Nov 15: In what can be termed as a perfect Diwali present to the denizens of Lumla constituency, former Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Tsering Lhamu, flagged off a Mahindra Xylo at Lumla circuit house. The vehicle under the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Department, will ply directly from Lumla to Itanagar.
Lhamu, who is the only female ZPC of the district and also the spouse of Lumla legislator Jambey Tashi, said that the direct SUV service from Lumla to the state capital is a boon for the locals as it will save much time, labour and money of the passengers. "Earlier, one had to travel all the way to Tawang, then lodge and dine in a hotel after booking a ticket, which laid tremendous financial and physical strain on the commuters, especially patients referred for treatment", she explained.
"Now, they can confirm their tickets through a simple phonecall and get traveling from their doorsteps, for which I am highly grateful to Minister for Tourism and Transport Nakap Nalo and APST General manager P.N. Thungon, for looking after the grievances of this landlocked region", she added.
Lumla ADC RD Thungon, EAC Tashi Dhondup, HoDs, public and youth leaders also attended the simple function.
