ITANAGAR, Aug 17: The Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board aggrieved aspirants Interim Committee for Justice and Reformation (ICJR) has demanded the state government to make public the inquiry report made by the two-member high-level committee constituted to investigate the infamous APSSB job scandal.
In a press conference, the committee's legal adviser, Advocate SD Loda, asked the state government to clarify its stand on the job scam and why it is hesitating to make public the names of all corrupt officials involved in the scam.
Loda revealed that after a series of protests conducted soon after  the APSSB examination scam first surfaced on February 15, the Chief Secretary had assured that before June 30 charge sheet would be filed and investigation report made public in a meeting on June 2.
He said that the committee on August 7 gave a seven-day ultimatum to the state government reiterating the demand after CS failed to furnish the inquiry report submitted by the two-member high-level committee to CS on March 24.
“Finally, CS gave a press statement regarding the progress of the investigation which we did not find satisfactory. The reason CS cited for not disclosing the investigation report was merely an excuse,” Loda stated.
Advisor of the committee, Debia Muj questioned why the government is unwilling to furnish the inquiry report, trials and legal proceeding in public domain that too at a time when the investigation is nearing completion and the charge sheet is about to be filed.
“Recommendation of the two-member committee is very important to take any administrative action against the officer responsible for the scam especially top-level officials. And there is a high probability of tampering the report if it is not made public,” Muj noted.
“Such cases should be kept on record and made accessible to all by the state government so that public confidence on APSSB can be restored. If the government cannot punish corrupt officials, then it is better to dissolve APSSB,” Muj suggested. He also suggested that the issue should be tabled in the upcoming Legislative Assembly session for discussion.
Meanwhile, the committee has announced a silent protest on August 27 in which protesters will gather outside all the Deputy Commissioner's offices across the state wearing black ribbons as a mark of protest.
“All those who feel that they are being cheated should come forward voluntarily and support our silent protest,” the committee appealed.
