ITANAGAR, Oct 20: On Day 19, of the ongoing PAN-India Legal Awareness and Outreach Campaign, being carried out as part of the Azadi ka  Amrut Mahotsav celebrations, several legal awareness camps, programmes and door to door drives were conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority along with the District Legal Services Authorities today.
As part of its own legal awareness efforts, a new Legal Aid Clinic was opened by the APSLSA inside the premises of the C-Sector Police Station, Itanagar. The newly established clinic which is expected to benefit lakhs of citizens seeking legal aid and assistance was inaugurated by Justice Rumi K. Phukan of the Gauhati High Court in presence of Jaweplu Chai, Member Secretary APSLSA and Kamdam Sikom, SDPO. 
The inaugural programme was followed by a brief legal awareness programme for Police personnel during which they were sensitized on the subject of Free Legal Aid & Assistance, rights of citizens with regards to arrest, pre-arrest and remand, Legal Aid Clinics and the Para Legal Volunteer Scheme.
The District Legal Services Authorities of Papum Pare, West Kameng, Tawang and East Siang also took part in the PAN India Legal Outreach Campaign on the day as simultaneous door to door awareness drives were conducted in multiple villages of the respective districts on various legal topics of public interest and benefit, being covered by the designated teams of Legal Aid Counsels and Para Legal Volunteers along with officials and staffers.
The day’s campaign ended with a total of 21 villages being covered by the APLSLA-DLSA team, registering 750 beneficiaries from across four districts in the process.
