AALO, Feb 18: As part of its legal awareness outreach programme for women in West Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) in collaboration with the district unit of Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) conducted the third phase in Pushi Bango under Bagra Circle today.
APSCW Vice Chairperson Heyumai Tawsik Techi appealed the women wings and stakeholders in the district to take the lead role in generating awareness on women’s rights and privileges. While stressing on compulsory registration of marriages she appealed to the GBs to ensure its proper implementation. 
The Commission’s members Techi Hunmai Doyom, Hoksum Ori, its Legal Adviser Advocate Karmu Chotton spoke on issues like polygamy, domestic violence, role of Self Help Groups etc. Resource Persons Advocates Kebom Taso and Jorik Bagra dwelt at length on free legal aid, customary laws, property rights and crime against women. President APWWS, West Siang Marbom Riba Bagra highlighted the role of the unit in the district.
Circle Officer, Bagra Hage Moonya also spoke on the occasion. DIPRO
