ITANAGAR, Apr 19: A team from the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) today made an inspection visit to the Short Stay Home of Oju Welfare Association (OWA) and One Stop Centre (OSC), Naharlagun.
APSCW Chairperson Radhilu Chai (Techi), Vice Chairperson Heyomai Tawsik, its members Hoksum Ori and Techi Hunmai along with Legal Adviser Karmu Chotton interacted with the destitute and women victims. The inmates informed that the Home is providing good facilities besides the skill development training. The Commission members interacted with Chairperson, OWA, Ratan Anya and informed that all its pending cases taking shelter at Swadhar Grah have been disposed off. The OWA Chairperson informed that due to lack of funds they are unable to impart skill development training (beauty parlour training) to the inmates. The team donated some amount of money to OWA for meeting the emergency medical expenditures of the inmates.  Coordinator Nada Nampi informed that they need a permanent building to establish the One Stop Centre in Naharlagun and due lack of vehicles, it is difficult to run the centre particularly during medical emergencies.
Observing that there is a need for establishment of a Women PS in Naharlagun for the larger good of denizens and women victims, APSCW has requested the state government to pursue the matter.
