ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Expressing deep condemnation and seeking exemplary punishment of the culprit in the Raga rape incident, the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has taken suo motu cognizance of the case.
In the said heinous incident, a 14-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by the Principal of Green Hills School on December 12 last. In a press release issued today, APSCPCR Chairperson Gumri Ringu and its members have requested the Superintendent of Police, Kamle district to expedite the investigation process and apply all the applicable provisions available under POCSO Act to ensure justice to the victim. The Commission has further asked the SP to ensure the school is not allowed to reopen until the issue is solved and send the status report along with latest updates.
Meanwhile, the APSCPCR has also requested the district’s Child Welfare Committee (cwc) to move the concerned authority for providing immediate financial assistance/compensation to the victim under the Arunachal Victim Compensation Scheme 2011.
