ITANAGAR, Nov 25: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has deeply condemned the Seppa rape incident in which a minor girl working as domestic help was the victim.
Terming the incident an instance of “moral degradation” where the accused is the Assistant Engineer of Bameng, Makcha Temik, the Commission has taken suo moto cognizance. Its Chairperson Gumri Ringu spoke to the Chairman of Child Welfare Committee, Seppa and the Investigating Officer of the case (SPA/WPS No. 09/20) wherein she was informed that a case under section 4 of the POCSO Act 2012 has been registered and the alleged accused has been arrested.
Expressing serious concern over increase of crimes against women and girl children, the Commission has directed the Child Welfare Committee, Seppa to give psychosocial and legal support to the victim.
Further, it has urged the authority concerned to provide compensation to the victim under the AP Victim Compensation Scheme 2011 and exemplary punishment for such heinous crimes. APSCPCR PR
