Wakro, Oct 17: The students of Apna Vidya Bhawan, Wakro gave a warm welcome to  distinguished veteran Maj Gen AK Bardalai, VSM, (Retd) who revisited the school after fifteen years. 
Gen Bardalai began with a courtesy call on an elder CT Mein, former minister on his arrival to the region. CT Mein one of the first parliamentarians of the state recollected the days when Gen Bardalai had commanded the infantry brigade of the Indian Army in the region and of the unparalleled bonhomie the veteran had promoted and maintained during his command tenure. Daughter Badenglu Tayang got very emotional meeting the fatherly figure after fifteen years. The girl child who recently completed her graduation had lost both parents in early childhood and was introduced to the great tradition of service and care of the Indian Army by Gen Baradalai while he was the brigade commander in 2006. 
He also made a courtesy call on Deputy Commissioner Lohit, Shasvat Saurabh.
The DC also offered financial assistance of Rs 60,000 to girl child Badenglu Tayang under the Bibha-Shanta Prakalp of the Beena Ghose Roy Scheme by the Anu Shiksha Seva Trust. The Bibha-Shanta Prakalp was announced recently by Kenter Joya Riba during her maiden visit to the region and Badenglu who opted for pursuing higher studies is the first beneficiary. Members of the community briefed the DC Lohit about the great contributions and services on security and social welfare fronts taken up by the Indian Army under the initiative of veteran Maj Gen AK Bardalai, VSM.
The veteran also interacted with senior officers and officials of the Lohit district. 
Roshan Krisikro welcomed the veteran on behalf of Chairperson Lohit Zilla Parishad while the 'Apnes' received him with faces brightly lit up by smiles. 
The memento to mark the occasion was presented by Hansraj Wathore, IFS, DFO Kamlang Tiger Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary Division. The distinguished veteran also met Apyalu Mam, girl child under the care of the Indian Army.
