Itanagar, Dec 2: The 19th Foundation Day of the apex literary body of the state, Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society was celebrated in a grand manner on Tuesday at the State Banquet Hall Itanagar, chaired by its President Y.D Thongchi.
Attending the programme as the Chief Guest, MLA Toko Tatung in his speech described himself as an ardent poetry and literary lover and recited three poems of various famous poets in his speech. He described that literature of Arunachal is the mirror and kaleidoscope of society, tradition and culture of Arunachalee communities. He lauded the yeoman service rendered by APLS, particularly for the flourishing, budding writers and development of conducive literary atmosphere in the state.
Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi in his presidential address said that APLS has initiated to publish dramas written so far by the dramatist of the state in the name of ‘Natak Mala’ for posterity as a part of dramatic movement launched by Riken Ngomle under the aegis of the State government and Roots Arunachal. The occasion also saw conferment of Luminous Lummer Dai Literary Award, 2025 to Dr. Ashok Kumar Pandey for his dedicated literary contribution in the field of poetry by the chief guest MLA Toko Tatung. The award consists of a memento, citation, bundle of books and cash amount of Rupees Fifty Thousand.
The literary function was illuminated with the release of two books- ‘Boh Ramo Bokar: Mastering Folklore and Language Skills’ by Dr. Nasi Koje, and ‘Yatra’ Hindi translation of short stories of Y.D Thongchi translated by Inumoni Das.
The foundation day was initiated with welcome address by its General Secretary Mukul Pathak who briefed the brief history and activities of APLS.
