Seppa, Sep 9: The APLA@50 Outreach Connect Programme, organised by the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Rajiv Gandhi University under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA), successfully concluded its Western Zone outreach at Government College, Seppa, on September 6.
The programme was attended by MLA Ealing Tallang, and featured a keynote address by Dr. Rejir Karlo, Principal, Neelam Taram Government College, Yachuli.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Robin Hissang, Principal, Government College, Seppa, who acknowledged the vision and commitment of APLA and Rajiv Gandhi University in taking the initiative to academic institutions across the state, thereby strengthening the spirit of inclusive democratic celebration.
A briefing on the objectives and significance of the Outreach Connect Programme was presented by Dr. Saurav Mitra, who emphasised its role in fostering awareness on the Assembly’s journey and democratic values among students.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Karlo elaborated on the rights and duties enshrined in the Constitution of India, contextualising them with examples from Arunachal Pradesh. He also highlighted the importance of recognising cultural heritage while underscoring the need for youth to cultivate a collective sense of civic responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Ealing Tallang reflected on the contributions of pioneering legislators, recalling the legacy of leaders such as P.K. Thungon. He urged the students to shoulder responsibility for the future of Arunachal Pradesh irrespective of their chosen career paths and conveyed his appreciation to APLA and Rajiv Gandhi University for their dedicated efforts in organising the programme.
The Lecture Series and Debate Competition conducted as part of the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Government College, Seppa, contributing to the event’s intellectual depth and impact.
The APLA@50 Outreach Connect Programme will continue its journey with the Central-West Zone leg, scheduled from September 16-19.
