PASIGHAT, Jul 23: Pasighat-based Apex Professional University (APU) was conferred with the prestigious One District One Green Champion 2020-21 Award today by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Union Ministry of Education.
An online workshop cum award ceremony was organized today by the MGNCRE at the Siang Hall of DC’s office here which was presided by the Council’s Project Coordinator Dr. Savita Mishra. In-charge Deputy Commissioner of East Siang Tatdo Borang (ADC) graced the occasion as chief guest while APU Chancellor Dhanwant Singh, Vice Chancellor Rajesh Arora, Registrar Vijay Kumar Tilak and Director Harjit Singh were present on the occasion. 
On behalf of MGNCRE, the I/c DC formally handed over the prestigious award to the APU Chancellor. Receiving the award, he said that it is a testimony to their commitment towards social responsibility with a focus on sustainable development. The Project Coordinator presented a detailed report on the powers and functions of MGNCRE and briefed the participating officers on the modalities of handling water, waste, greenery, sanitation and energy in higher education institutions. Besides striving to promote a resilient rural India through higher educational interventions and designs, the MGNCRE also develops and promotes curriculum inputs for higher education programmes.

The ministry has observed that besides knowledge sharing, measures were also taken by the APU to ensure in-campus hygiene, cleanliness, waste management, a green campus and Covid-19 precautions. DIPRO
