ITANAGAR, Sep 15: The Central Executive Committee and the members of the Arunachal Pradesh Engineering Service Association (APESA) celebrated the 53rd Engineers' Day on the theme “Engineers for a Self Reliant India” here at Itanagar.
The Engineers' Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of great engineer & creative planner, Bharat Ratna, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Visvesvaraya by members of the association led by its President Er Pura Tupe and Secretary-General Er Tayum Tok.
In his address,  President, Er Pura Tupe briefed the biography and achievement of Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya which includes the multipurpose Krishna Raja Sagara Dam built in 1912 including many flood protection systems designed by him which are still rendering service.
Secretary-General, Er Tayum Tok through a PowerPoint presentation highlighted the role of engineers during this pandemic and asked all engineers to lead from the front in making India self reliant as an analyst, as a designer, as an innovator, as an integrator, and as a social catalyst.
