ITANAGAR, Jan 30: Following the formal conclusion of Rahul Gandhi-led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), organized a concluding function at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here on Monday to mark the end of the march.
Speaking to reporters, APCC Vice President Rajen Nani said that the yatra led by Rahul Gandhi was against the prevailing corruption, inflation, and killing of democracy by the BJP government, and also to unite the people of the country to fight against it.
The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' concluded in Jammu & Kashmir after passing through 12 states and two union territories over a period of 150 days covering a distance of 3,500 km.
“The foot-march was more of creating unity among the people, and fighting against corruption, and it can’t be termed as ‘political yatra’. We are delighted that the yatra is a huge success in terms of building brotherhood among the people of the country of various states,” Nani said, adding that the Indian government should give a prize to Rahul Gandhi for the movement.
Besides the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, the Congress party is looking forward to initiating another programme named, ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’. Under the initiative, party workers will reach out to every single person at the village level to spread the works of the Congress party, he added.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Rajen Nani also said that it was the Bharat Jodo Yatra that united the regional parties of the country to come forth in support of the Congress party for a greater and brighter future for the country.
To mark the end of the yatra, 12 opposition parties will attend the concluding function out of 21 invited parties. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Samajwadi Party (SP), and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are among the parties to skip the function,” he informed.
