ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) General Secretary Gyamar Tana through a video message on Tuesday drew the attention of the state government regarding the plight of the people of rural Mengio and Silsango Circles under Papum Pare district who are facing shortage of essential food grains since last three months.
Highlighting the details, Tana mentioned that the two Circles having more than 6000 inhabitants are staring at severe food scarcity due to discontinuation of essential PDS items for reasons such as poor road connectivity and lockdowns. Tana had also submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary requesting him to initiate an immediate action such as airlifting of foodgrains allotted under PMGKY scheme to Mengio.
Referring to state government’s order dated July 24 as per which 633.25 quintals of rice and 29.65 quintals of channa are to be airlifted to the AAY beneficiaries of the area through 258 sorties, the APCC GS has requested the concerned authority to expedite the process.
