PASIGHAT, Oct 30:  MLA and Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) Nyato Dukam during his tour to East Siang today sought cooperation from the District Administration, district labour unions and all stakeholders for the welfare of workers.
Dukam made the appeal while addressing a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh, attended by the HoDs, representatives of district labour organisations and other stakeholders. ADC Hq, Taddo Borang also attended the meeting. The Board Chairman stressed on timely deposit of 1% labour cess by all works departments through proper procedure to boost collection so that social security benefits can be extended to the labour community on time under the Mukhya Mantri Shramik Kalyan Yojana 2020. “The statutory benefits under MMSKY have been enhanced to a great extent and its proper implementation at district level will help in maximum coverage of the registered beneficiaries,” he said. The meeting also took stock of the progress of construction of the labour shed-cum-night shelter in Pasighat for registered workers. The DC assured all-possible support from the DA for workers’ welfare. Later, the Chairman along with DC inspected the progress of construction of the labour shed.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Ozing Darung asked the HoDs to deposit the cess amount directly to the Secretary, APB&OCWWB with a copy to the respective District Labour Officer. DIPRO
