ITANAGAR, Feb 17: An emergency meeting of the Arunachal Publishers & Broadcasters Guild (AP&BG) was held on Monday to arrive at a conclusive decision arising out of the long pending issues facing the organisation. During the meeting the AP&BG has announced to launch the first phase of indefinite protest against what it terms lackadaisical attitude towards their plea.
All print and electronic media will carry black protest sign on their front pages and before news bulletins as the first leg of its protest. The organisation plans to mount its campaign further if no logical solution is arrived at.
'Since two months, we have tried to reachout to the authorities. But we have been denied an audience so far, hence we have been cornered to take the decision. Therefore, pressing for our genuine right, we have decided to launch a phase wise protest indefintely till an amicable solution is arrived at,' said President, AP & BG, Chopa Cheda.
'Costs have risen astronomically and the negligible payment coming in from the government has made the survival of media houses very difficult. We urge the government to understand our situation and give us what is our right, said General Secretary AP& BG, Mibom Dai.
