ITANAGAR, Aug 25: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has temporarily deferred its proposed 36-hour bandh call in Itanagar proposed on August 27-28 after the government assured to fulfill all of its demands on Tuesday.
Earlier in the morning, the Nyishi Elite Society (NES) led by its president, Bengia Tolum and ANYA executives members headed by Byabang Joram held a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu in presence of other government representatives wherein it was agreed to provide all information sought on white paper by the association.
Announcing this in a press conference, ANYA, President, Byabang Joram said that  the organization temporarily suspended its proposed bandh call as the government agreed to fulfill their demands and following the advice by its parent body NES.
" The Chief Minister during the meeting informed that all our demands which include scrapping of GEM procurement, white paper on financial status, progress report of the investigation into TAH and APSSB scam, offspring issues, etc had been fulfilled, " disclosed Joram.
Joram said  that the Chief Minister also assured to fulfill the last remaining demand of financial status report of district-wise quota within ten days including to pass rupees 50 lakhs work order system in the upcoming assembly session.
NES, President, Bengia  Tolum stated the NES asked ANYA to call off the bandh since the government has assured to fulfill all of their demands in a written form, therefore, there is no reason to continue with the agitation.
“Anti-social elements and unscrupulous people can take advantage of the situation in the name of ANYA and we do not want that to happen. This is the reason we have urged our youths to call off the bandh keeping in mind the image of the Nyishi community and relationship with other communities of the state,” Tolum added.
Meanwhile, Tolum hoped that the state government would honour its commitment adding otherwise they will jointly take up the initiative next time.
