ITANAGAR, May 4: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) while vehemently condemning the Assam forest department for illegally intruding in Arunachal Pradesh at Dullung Ramghat village in Tarasso Circle of Papum Pare district on May 3 last, has opined that the Pema Khandu-led BJP government has completely failed in protecting lives and properties of state’s people residing in boundary areas and is playing role of “mute spectator.”
In a press release issued on Monday, ANYA has highlighted the frequent encroachments by Assam forest department that had destroyed public properties and caused physical and mental torture of people living there. It has cited the March 9 incident when Assam forest personnel stopped PMGSY road construction at Buka village under Kimin Circle of Papum Pare district, demolished Kakoi Nyokum Yullo structure on March 17 and the latest May 3 incident. The association recalled that after the Buka incident, they submitted a representation to State Home Minister Bamang Felix urging him to take up the matter with the Assam counterpart.
Questioning the hostile attitude of the Assam government, ANYA has alleged that even the Supreme Court’s order to maintain status quo has been violated by them repeatedly. It has appealed the state government to take up matter with the Assam counterpart, specifically mentioning the need for recruiting sufficient number of forest guards and Arunachal Pradesh Police Battalion (APPBn) personnel for deployment in these sensitive boundary areas.
