KHONSA, May 7: In yet another success in curbing drug peddling activities in Tirap, Anti-Drug Squad of the district police on Thursday apprehended two peddlers and recovered suspected contraband from them.
Acting on a specific intelligent input regarding the possible movement of drug peddlers through the under-construction road in Sumsipathar which was chosen by the drug peddlers to avoid the check gate, a naka was laid along the Sumsipathar-Pansumthong village area. The ADS team led by Borduria Police Station OC SI Nokpam Lowang intercepted a bike and after searching the rider who has been identified as Wangwi and his pillion rider Monglat, 3 and 11 grams of suspected brown sugar hidden inside their shoe and jacket respectively were recovered. A case (No.03/21 u/s 21(b) of NDPS Act) has been registered against the peddlers at Borduria PS and investigation is on.
It’s worth mentioning that the district’s ADS during the last two weeks has nabbed a number of drug peddlers leading to the recovery of more than 640 gms of suspected contraband. DIPRO
