KHONSA, May 5: Acting on specific intelligent inputs regarding movement of peddlers transporting narcotics substances, the anti-drug squad of Tirap Police on Tuesday managed to apprehend five persons with suspected contrabands through setting up of MCP at various locations.
Three cases under NDPS Act have been registered against the accused at multiple police stations. The accused have been identified as Raatwang, Singkai, Sanjit, Lucy and Nyajin and 604 gm of suspected opium and a little over 38 gm of suspected brown sugar were seized from them.
SP Tirap Kardak Riba while congratulating the ADS warned the peddlers to desist from the illegal business and appealed to the civil society of the district to support Tirap Police and District Administration in eradication of the menace. The SP also appealed to the citizens to install the Drug-free Arunachal app from Google Play Store and make adequate use of it by informing the police about the incidents of drug abuse in the district.
The striking feature of the app is that the identity of informant will be kept secret and even the police personnel acting on the ground will not be aware about the details of the informant. DIPRO
