KHONSA, Oct 17: The anti-drug squad of Tirap police has nabbed two drug peddlers during raids conducted in and around the Khonsa market that led to the recovery of heroin weighing approx. 140 gm.
Acting on a tip-off from sources regarding the active presence of peddlers in the township during the unlock period, the anti-drug squad launched swift action that resulted in arrest of the duo named Wangsam and Wangtiap. Along with seizure of the contraband, cash amounting to Rs 6670 was seized from their possession. A case vide no.38/20 u/s 21(b) of the NDPS Act 1985 has been registered at the Khonsa PS and further investigation is on. Tirap SP Kardak Riba appreciated the anti-drug squad led by OC PS Khonsa Inspector Wangngoi Kamhua and SI L. Kimsing.
While issuing a warning to the drug peddlers to desist from such activities, the SP has also appealed to the people of the district to install the ‘Drug-free Arunachal’ app in their smartphones and use it extensively to help the police in tackling the menace. DIPRO
