KOLAM, Jun 2: Kolam village, under Tutnu Block of Lazu Administrative Circle in Tirap district witnessed its first ever anti-drug rally today which was organized by the youths of the village in coordination with panchayat and youth leaders.
The rally which was part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan had the theme ‘Make Kolam, Safe Kolam’. It commenced from the village Welcome Gate and culminated at the Chief’s house. President, Kolam Youth Welfare Association (KYWA) Nanhang Phuksa informed that the main objective of the rally was to spread awareness among youths who have taken to various forms of addiction such as opium, alcohol, tobacco and narcotic substances. KYWA Secretary Ngamlat Hangsik appealed to the youths of Kolam and nearby villages to shun addiction and abandon the illegal occupation of peddling Kaani and other intoxicating substances. The participants gave slogans and carried posters and pamphlets containing anti-drug messages.
