Roing, Mar 16: Coming as a part of the Arunachal Rising Campaign, an anti-drug awareness programme was conducted today at the Community Rekho in Abali village by the Enjalumenda Women’s Empowerment Forum in collaboration with the IPR department.
President EWEF, Rakhi Linggi spoke on parenting and its importance, what happens to children without parents and urged parents to focus on their wards’ primary education. HWO, District Hospital Mili Perme spoke on the health risks due to drugs and appealed all to keep away from tobacco, alcohol and smoking. Member, EWEF Lomi Linggi spoke on the evils of domestic violence and urged people to be vocal at the first instance and seek protection from the One Stop Centres. SI, Roing Police Sushant Saurabh Jha informed about the Anti-Drug Squad working in Roing and how they have been able to nab peddlers in Roing, Namsai and Assam. The team can be contacted by anyone willing to give information relating to drugs, he informed and apprised the gathering about the rehabilitation programme where high-risk boys are counselled and 5 had already been sent to Kripa Foundation, Guwahati for de-addiction, with further plans to look after their post-return employment.
Member, Ayame SHG Hema Pulu spoke about the trials and tribulations of working against IMFL and in nabbing peddlers in villages. GS, AIMSU Mompa Linggi spoke on the need to engage children in skill-building activities like farming. Altogether 123 people attended the programme. DIPRO
