ITANAGAR, Nov 29: All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU) has deferred its proposed  36 hours Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) bandh, which was called on  December 6 next following a written assurance from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) to resolve their issues.
Addressing the media persons at the press club here on Monday, President ANSU, Nabam Dodum said the decision to defer the bandh call was unanimous and was decided in an executive meeting held at the ANSU office today.
Dodum also added that the Chief Minister Pema Khandu has assured to resolve the two point demands of the union in a meeting which is scheduled on December 13 next.
He said the union received a letter from CMO on Sunday, where CM requested the union to defer the proposed bandh.
“However, if the demands of the union are not fulfilled after the meeting, the union will resume its 36 hours bandh with further notification from the union,” he added.
Earlier, in a letter to the ANSU, CMO has stated that the CM is keen to resolve the issues of the union. However, due to pre-committed meetings and pre-scheduled district tours, the CM will be engaged till December 12.
Therefore, the CM desired to have a meeting with the central executive members of the union on December 13 at the State civil secretariat.
Further, it also stated that the bandh culture is not healthy for the development of the state. Moreover, it will adversely affect all the denizens of ICR which is not in the larger interest of the people of the capital and state as a whole.
