ITANAGAR, Jun 12: The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has strongly condemned Itanagar Capital Region SP Jimmy Chiram for ‘insulting’ the union’s executive members at a Naka point near Nyidar Namlo-B Sector in the capital on June 9 last.
In a press release issued today, ANSU alleged that the SP used unparliamentary words against the union members who were on their way to the union office for some urgent work. According to the union, the SP’s uttering of unpleasant words is not only unacceptable to the union but also has hurt the sentiment of the entire Nyishi community.
ANSU General Secretary Gora Rikam Bhai said that since the beginning of the lockdown the union has been continuously working for the welfare of denizens with due consent from the District Administration. “However, the SP has insulted us by using unpleasant words to the on-duty executive members who have already obtained a travelling permit from the DC ICR. We have distributed essential items and even constructed bamboo fencing at the burial ground during lockdown risking our lives, but had to face the SP’s abuse,” the union GS said in the release. Its President Nabam Dodum besides demanding an unconditional apology from the SP has also appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Home Minister Bamang Felix to transfer him to a non-Nyishi district within 7 days.
If the state government fails to meet our demand within the stipulated time, we shall be compelled to launch democratic movement in the capital, ANSU President added.
The SP wasn't available for his comments.
