Anini, Aug 13: MLA Mopi Mihu and Deputy Commissioner of Dibang Valley district Minga Sherpa on Thursday attended the daylong ‘Awareness Training on Kiwi Cultivation’ as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively conducted here by the District Horticultural Officer.
The training programme conducted under CMSKY 2019-20 and Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI) 2019-20 proposals was attended by nearly 40 beneficiaries from various parts of the district.
DC while elaborating state government's plans to promote Kiwi as an alternate crop in the district through Cluster Farming, advised the farmers to work hard and visualized that the crop which has high nutritive and marketing value will change the area’s economic fortunes. Terming Kiwi as "Light weight but high value crop," he appealed to the farmers to grow it in large quantities for attaining economic self-sustenance and assured all-round assistance in terms of scientific inputs of cultivation and proper guidance from the department. The DC also appreciated the DHO, Dibang Valley Dr Kirto Loyi for working hard with farmers despite several difficulties.
Technical season of the training included PowerPoint Presentation, practical demonstration of equipment handling by the DHO who was the Resource Person, followed by distribution of barbed wire and other equipment to the farmers. DIPR
