LONGDING, Jan 29: An animal health camp was organised in Senua village of Longding district on January 28 last by KVK Longding and ICAR for NEH Region, A.P Centre Basar. The camp was organised for the dairy farmers of the village and Animal Science Specialist Dr. Tilling Tayo said that fodder scarcity in winter and lack of good breeding bulls are the two major problems faced by Senua dairy farmers. To address the problems he informed that hybrid Napier (fodder) has been distributed to the farmers and a tie-up for Artificial Insemination (AI) for Jersey, Sahiwal, Gir and Hybrid Holstein Friesian breed of cows has been made. Demonstration of AI technique through required equipment was also given to the farmers. I/c Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Longding Dr. A. Kirankumar Singh encouraged the farmers to conduct regular health check-up of their dairy animals and use superior quality semen for higher milk production. Along with distribution of vitamins and minerals, mass deworming, treatment of common ailments and Ranikhet (F1) vaccination were carried out. Altogether 30 farmers attended the health camp.
