Parshuram Kund, May 21: Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of a 51-feet bronze statue of Sage Parshuram, donated by VIPRA Foundation, today at Parshuram Kund, in the presence of Union Law & Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, MP Tapir Gao, State Ministers and a host of MLAs from Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Shah also unveiled a 5-feet statue of Lord Parshuram on the day.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, also stated that 37 crores had been provided under PRASAD scheme for the development of the place and made a request for the central government to provide additional aid in the efforts in making the area a world class pilgrimage and tourist site.
Speaking at the Ramakrishna Mission School's golden jubilee celebrations in Narottam Nagar, Tirap district, Shah stated that the Centre is committed to bringing peace and development to the region. Shah stated that the governments of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam were working to resolve the inter-state boundary dispute amicably and permanently.
The signing of the Bodo Peace Accord, according to Shah, ended the insurgency in Assam's Bodoland region. "The Modi government undertook the surrender of militant groups in Tripura and the resolution of the Bru refugee issue." The union Home Ministry has taken steps to bring peace to Assam's Karbi Anglong district "He stated.
The union Home Minister stated that a three-pronged agenda for the development of the Northeast has been prepared. "First and foremost, we would preserve and promote the region's indigenous cultures and languages." Second, we want to resolve all disputes among the northeastern states and rid the region of insurgency, and third, we want the eight states to be the most developed in the country " he continued.
