PASIGHAT, Sep 13: After widespread media reports over the playing conditions at Pasighat where the 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship is underway, the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) today said that all norms and guidelines laid out by All India Football Federation (AIFF) are being followed including ground preparations but the unexpected heavy rainfall has led to the unforeseen situation.
APFA Secretary Kipa Ajay issued this clarification while interacting with the media at Siang Guest House this afternoon. Responding to media reports about slushy ground conditions under which matches are being played, he said that APFA is doing its best to cope up with this unforeseen situation that has resulted due to unexpected heavy rainfall and alternate ground arrangements have also been made other than the fields in CHF (College of Horticulture & Forestry) and Pasighat Stadium.
While reiterating that APFA has worked extremely hard for developing the venues for this prestigious tournament  for the last two months, Ajay said, “when we are all prepared, nature’s fury came upon us, but AIFF and APFA are making all-out efforts to make this a historic championship.” On being asked about the timing of the championship, he said that it has been set by AIFF.
He further said that East Siang District Administration under DC, Dr Kinny Singh and SP, Rajiv Ranjan Singh are providing all support and APFA officials, DA and other line departments are coordinating with each other to ensure that provisions ranging from accommodation, sanitation, fooding, water supply etc are ensured. Every evening a coordination meeting is held with the Coaches and Managers to discuss all issues, Ajay added. Regarding ground feasibility, he stated that assessments are made by AIFF Match Commissioners and Referees before every match.
APFA Secretary along with its State Coordinator, Orin Lego have expressed gratitude and appreciation for the people of Pasighat and soccer lovers for thronging the venues in large numbers braving heavy rainfall. DIPRO
