ITANAGAR, May 22: The stage is all set for counting of votes for both Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections which will be held across 20 counting centres spread over 20 districts of the state.
According to a press release issued today by Arunachal Pradesh Police, for ensuring free, fair and peaceful counting, the state police would be strengthening the law and order arrangements in all districts through 33 Coy of State Armed Forces of AAPBn and IRBn and around 38 Coy of CAPF provided by MHA apart from Civil Police.
Two-tier arrangement will be put up at all counting centres and police force will be adequately equipped with anti-riot gears and weapons and kept in readiness in all districts to respond to any emergency in quickest possible time. Special anti-riot vehicles and equipment will be used with police teams and important areas would be videographed by persons specially deployed for the purpose. Armed cut-offs would also be placed at important routes to prevent the exit of any miscreant.
All district SPs have been instructed to gather intelligence about any law and order problem that can arise after the counting process and make adequate arrangements for that. The police headquarters would be closely monitoring the law and order situation through regular communication with all districts through independent wireless networks.
To ensure peaceful counting in Capital Complex, three-zone security will be set up, informed Superintendent of Police, Capital Complex Tumme Amo. Zone I is in and around the counting center (Sidharta Hall), Zone –II to maintain law and order, patrolling and Nakas in Itanagar and Zone-III is in Naharlagun for Nakas, patrolling and area communication.
While elaborating on the security, SP added that security in Zone-I is very much elaborate and as per the guideline of Election Commission of India. There is another three layers in Zone-I, innermost cordons where Central Armed Police Forces will be deployed, State Armed Police Force in middle cordon and in outermost cordon civil police are to be deployed.
Zone-I will be headed by one SP and beside the layers of security, there will be striking reserve team to manage the situation if any untoward incident happens. No one will be allowed to enter upto hundred meters of counting center except the designated people or the contesting candidates, SP added.
Zone-II will also be headed by SP and he will look over all the activities like highway patrolling, Nakas in three shifts(morning, afternoon and night ) till May 30 next.
In Itanagar, Nakas will be held along with mobile patrolling at Hollongi, Chimpu-Jully tri-junction, Gohpur –Tri-junction, Ganga Beat Post, Niti Vihar Tri-junction, Nyadar Namlo Tri-Junction and Papunalah Tri-Junction in three shifts.Whereas in Naharlagun under Zone –III, Nakas will be held at Yupia Tri Junction, Kangkarnalah, Dikrong and in Banderdewa.
Beside this, mobile patrolling teams have also been deployed which will cover Papunalah to Kangkar Nalah, Kangkarnalah to Bage Tinali, Bage Tinali to Karsingsa and Karsingsa to Banderdewa.
