The award is in recognition of tireless efforts taken by the state administration and Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to protect and conserve the rare, unique and endangered wildlife of the state from the hunting practices which had been etched in the cultural history of certain tribal communities.
Talking about the Abhiyan, Natung called for collective efforts from all the North Eastern states to stop animal hunting and adopt community & culture based approach. He urged MoS MoEFCC, Ashwini Chowbey to extend his mission of Airgun/Gun Surrender Abhiyan to the whole country to eradicate crime against nature. “Replace guns on shoulders with cameras for shooting”, Natung added.

He told, these strategies, named as 'Panchdharas', are in consonance with the 'Panchamrit' goals set by PM  Narendra Modi in COP26 Summit in Glasgow.
