KHONSA, Apr 28: In compliance with the directives of the state government, Khonsa Forest Division today organized the Airgun Surrender Abhiyan here at the DFO’s office wherein 22 airguns were surrendered.
Appreciating the gesture of those who voluntarily surrendered their airguns on the day, DFO Pusom Tangha appealed to the citizens of Tirap district who are yet to surrender to follow suit. While emphasizing on the importance of birds in preservation of the state’s ecosystem, he appealed all to involve in plantation activities. He also appealed to the farming community of the district to avoid deforestation in and around the natural water source areas which is causing water scarcity in Khonsa. Representative from IPR department  Gawang Sumpa reiterated the appeal for surrendering airguns to the DFO. ZPM, Kapu Block Wiram Matey gave away the certificates of appreciation to all those who surrendered their airguns.
Range Officer, Lazu Wangroa Hakhun and Additional Chief Estimator Ponghong Bayang were among others present on the occasion. DIPRO
