ITANAGAR, Jan 2: Along with the rest of the state capitals across the country, the much-awaited mock drill/dry run to test the preparedness of COVID-19 vaccination programme was conducted on Saturday here at the Urban PHC Rakap Colony, Naharlagun and UPHC Itafort.
A vaccination team of 5 members exercised the mock drill registering 25 healthcare workers as beneficiaries at both the sites with 100 % attendance. The baseline data collection for healthcare service providers and entry of the same in the CoWIN portal was completed  beforehand and the portal was frozen on December 31 last. Once the vaccination of healthcare service providers is completed, the baseline data for the subsequent phase of vaccination will be uploaded in the portal on receipt of directives from the Union Health Ministry.
As part of the drill, time-bound activities at the session sites completed all the process for Covid vaccination preparedness to ensure effective delivery of doses. The team members delivered their responsibilities as per GoI guidelines and the beneficiaries also participated accordingly by following all instructions right from the point of entry to the exit. The mock drill was carried out to create awareness among  healthcare service providers about the know-how of COVID-19 protocols to be followed during actual vaccination at session sites. All districts of the state will be conducting similar mock drills at district level also.
The analysis of the dry run could be done through the Co-WIN application and the state team comprising the MD NHM, State Immunization Officer, SPO-UNDP and Vaccine and Cold Chain Manager (VCCM) monitored both the sessions. The beneficiaries registered in Co-WIN web application were verified digitally thoroughly before entry into the vaccination rooms. All vaccination data were recorded in the mobile Co-WIN app by the vaccinators.
Meanwhile, after the mock drill and monitoring exercises, a review meeting was conducted at UPHC Rakap Colony in the evening to discuss the feedback shared by the monitors to bring further improvement in the procedure.
Every individual at both the session sites were ensured to maintain the COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) such as hand washing, hand sanitization, wearing mask and social distancing.
The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has been spearheading the preparation for COVID-19 vaccination across the country since September 2020. The vaccination will be done in phase-wise manner and in the first phase, healthcare service providers of all health facilities across the country will be covered followed by vaccination of police personnel and other military personnel before finally covering the general public.
Reportedly, the COVID-19 vaccine set will be supplied by the GoI in the 2nd week of January for healthcare service providers and a series of trainings on the vaccination programme have been conducted in the state.
