ITANAGAR, Dec 23:  All East Kameng District Students Union (AEKDSU) has urged the  SIC to expedite  the inquiry process and to arrest all  the culprits involved in the Seppa to Chayangtajo road scam within stipulated timeframe. The Union also questioned the SIT for delaying the investigation process and in filing a charge.
Addressing the media persons at the press club here today, President AEKDSU Chakang Yangda said that the SIC has so far arrested only four people in the case and there are many to be arrested. The union also questioned the SIC why the police is yet to arrest and interrogate the principal contractor of the road stretch, Gammon India.
Yangda said the investigating agency should arrest the remaining persons involved in the scam at the earliest, cautioning of a democratic movement.
“The Gammon India is the prime suspect and SIC should take prompt action to detain the contractor and accordingly interrogate. The delay in arrest and charge sheet of the case somewhere builds a feeling that there is political conspiracy,” he said.
He said, by the arrest of a few officers by SIC, the public feels the SIC is practicing a 'pick and choose' policy in arresting them. Moreover, the public is also blaming the union for not raising voice to arrest the prime conspirator.
He said the additional fund of Rs 20 Cr announced by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu should have been handled constituency wise. He also appealed to the four legislators of the district to contribute funds for the completion of work.

SIC investigating matter professionally & thoroughly: SP Hemant Tiwari

ITANAGAR: Meanwhile, responding to the claims by the union over the slow pace of investigation, SIC SP Hemant Tiwari said that SIC is investigating the matter professionally and thoroughly.
He said the investigation involves a lot of paper trail, accounts trails, bills disbursement etc.
“There are many more individuals (govt. servants, concessioners and private individuals) whose roles are under scanner in this case. But arrest cannot be effected merely on suspicion. We are in the process of collecting sound evidence,” he said.
He further refuted the claims made by the union on SIC of going soft on the investigation; picking & choosing the individuals for arrest.
“We request all the stakeholders to cooperate with us so that entire scam can be unearthed and justice can be delivered. As per the requirements of the investigation more arrests will be effected following due process of law,” he added.
